Aable are not just a cleaning company, we offer a range of home improvements and outdoor services too including garden maintenance and exterior cleaning.

Everybody loves a  beautiful,  tidy  garden and what better a centre piece to have as a focal point than a perfectly manicured dark emerald green lawn. If you are searching for a reliable Ayrshire grass cutting company , then you have came to the perfect place here at Aable. We just love working out in the great outdoors and we take a great deal of satisfaction tidying and transforming gardens and lawns in North Ayrshire, South Ayrshire, East Ayrshire and the big Glasgow area too.
The average lawn is normally not a dark green colour nor is it usually weed and moss free grass. Most lawns are in fact full of moss, bald patches and weeds such as dandelions, daisies and buttercups. The grass may also have bare patches and dead yellow grass which is known as "thatch". Normal mowing alone is very unlikely to improve these conditions, but here at Aable we have the skill and the know how to transform tired grassy areas into a beautiful ultra green lush lawns to be proud of.

Techniques and Processes
Most of our clients normally require us to carry out a standard regular grass cutting service which often involves us strimming the edges and cutting neat edge lines with manual shears or sometimes with edge cutter scissors. We do however offer a complete lawn restoration service that will totally transform any tired and weary lawn into the grass that will be the envy of all your neighbours. A great lawn, however needs regular cutting, feeding, watering and maintenance.

Here is a brief summary on how we at Aabled work our magic
  • Improve the soil drainage flow, this normally involves lifting the turf, removing some of the soil and replacing with gravel and a pipe system.
  • Removing the moss and thatch, we kill the moss which normally grows in shaded and/or poorly drained areas. When the moss turns black after a few days, we will then vigorously rake the lawn with a mechanical lawn scarifier. After this stage to be honest, the grass will not look good at all as we have removed all of the moss and the dead yellow grass (thatch) leaving temporary bare patches, but please be patient as the rewards are well worth waiting for.
  • Lawn aeration, carried out to combat years of compaction. Aerating the grass can be done in different ways but we prefer to remove numerous plugs or cores from the lawn. This benefits the grass by allowing more essential nutrients and water to penetrate into the roots of the grass, thus allowing the grass to grow more vigorous with deeper and stronger roots.
  • Removing weeds, we have various ways that we employ to get rid of weeds which may involve herbicides or a more organic means. The mowing process can also help control weeds if done properly.
  • Feeding the grass, we add a fertiliser to the grass to help it to grow stronger and greener. This again can be done organically or with the use of a commercially produced fertiliser. Here at Aable we can apply a revolutionary new lawn restoration product that will start turning your lawn significantly greener after only a few days under the right conditions.
  • Reseeding, sometimes particularly tired or bare patch areas may need reseeded. The secret here is in preparing the ground for the seed, knowing how to apply the seed, top dressing the new seeded area and regular watering. We tend to only fertilise the newly seeded area when the new grass is around four to six weeks old.
  • Lawn mowing, we prefer not to cut grass too short and tend to take no more than a third off at a time. Leaving the grass slightly longer can choke out the weeds and kill them, well some of them anyway. Aable of Ayrshire also use the more traditional cylinder/roller mowers at our customers request to achieve that classy striped effect.
Aable are keen gardeners and we carry out a range of other landscaping services all geared to improving your enjoyment of your lawn and garden.
Reduced rates on grass mowing and weed control for regular Ayrshire and Glasgow clients and remember our regular dog waste poop scooping service too.

Aable are currently trialling our own brand lawn fertiliser that is enriched with seaweed and chicken manure. So far it appears to be turning the trial lawn sections a rich emerald green colour after around 2 weeks.
We will continue to trial this in our own areas (not customers) throughout the summer.
